FAQ Niche Medical

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a micropractice?
A micropractice is a one-physician office without nurses, medical assistants, or other support staff. All aspects of the patient experience- from scheduling to consultation to follow up results calls will be handled personally by Dr. Fick. Patients cared for in a micropractice model experience individualized, timely, and compassionate holistic care directly from their doctor.
Is this concierge medicine or a membership model?
No. Niche Medical is an alternative primary care solution for patients not needing frequent-enough healthcare access to warrant an ongoing membership, but who desire the benefits of direct physician care. Patients at Niche can be seen as frequently (or infrequently) as needed for their individual healthcare needs and will only pay for what time and services they need.
What is lifestyle medicine?
Lifestyle medicine is an approach to patient care that focuses on whole person health. It is centered around six pillars: optimal nutrition, restorative sleep, stress management, physical activity, social connection, and avoidance of risky substances.
Lifestyle medicine physicians aim to meet patients where they are and promote incremental improvement towards optimal health that align with patient goals, timelines, and individual circumstances.
Will I be able to get prescriptions, labs, radiology services, referrals?
You bet! Niche Medical uses Hint Clinical electronic health record to prescribe and order labs, imaging, and refer patients for specialty care. Some patients will be able to have labs drawn in the office.
Can I get vaccines?
Due to space and volume limitations, vaccines will not be available on-site. However, Dr. Fick will provide recommendations for vaccines based upon current guidelines and provide information on how to receive them.
Do you provide telehealth?
Yep! We prefer that new patient appointments are in person, but follow-up visits can be done via telehealth. Telehealth is also available (Indiana only) in other circumstances such as mobility and schedule limitations. Please email with specific needs / questions: info@nichemedandconsulting.com
What about gynecological services?
While Dr. Fick manages many women’s health issues such as peri-/menopause and gender affirming hormone management and prescriptive contraceptive care, she does not currently have the equipment to provide gynecological care requiring a full pelvic exam (i.e. pap, vaginal bleeding, chronic pelvic pain).
How do I get started?
Great! First you just sign up as a new patient at Niche Medical Sign Up. After entering your demographic information you'll be able to self-schedule a new patient appointment and follow-ups! As this electronic health record was designed for membership models, you’ll need to click the “$0 membership” to sign up as a patient.
What can I expect at a first visit?
All first visits are in person, one hour of 1:1 time with Dr. Fick. A comprehensive patient history and physical will be performed as well as a conversation about each patient's health goals, concerns, and questions.
Who should I bring with me?
As space is limited and not “kid-proof”, patients should come alone or with an adult partner or caregiver. Patients requiring other types of support are encouraged to reach out in advance at info@nichemedandconsulting.com.
